Ingri Midgard

My name is Ingri Midgard Fiksdal (b. 1982) and I’m from a small town called Molde on the west coast of Norway. I trained as a choreographer and dancer at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance (2004) and The Oslo National College of the Arts (2006). Now I’m based in Oslo where I work on various projects ranging from theatre and dance, to time based art and performance projects. I collaborate regularly with artist and musician Ingvild Langgård/Phaedra, and we recently premiered a concert piece called The Orchard Ballads, which is still touring.

Since 2007 I have been part of the duo Fiksdal/Lie where I collaborate with director and writer Miriam Prestøy Lie. We have produced pieces such as PRAVDA and Krasnoyarsk: Daydream Nation (2008), PresentENDing and GRUS (2009). At the moment we are working on adapting the Norwegian sci-fi-thriller-hit Blindpassasjer (a TV-drama from 1978) for stage.

As a dancer I have worked with choreographers such as Christopher Arouni, Tharan Revfem and Masja Abrahamsen. I’m also part of different collaborative structures working with choreography in a wider sense.

From autumn I will be a guest teacher at the MA program in choreography at The Oslo National College of the Arts. I have also been involved at the BA education in contemporary dance as a choreographer.

New showing – Monday 6/6/11

After a morning of discussion of what to do and why to do it, we split into groups of 3 or 4. Now we are waiting to see what the first group has come up with, it has something to do with the “off-dramatic” proposed by Ludvig.

Here is our groups proposal, Torgny’s BIG DAY, directed by Emil Trier.

Rituals show

Soon we will be going through the rituals developed by the different groups in the last few days. After last night I am pretty happy that we didn’t go for the Whirling Dervishes suggestion after all… But it should be really fun to see what everyone has come up with!

Also, it will be interesting to see if Jim and Laura will manage to follow up last night where they promised to host a party for everyone at their luxurious Kristian Smeds appartment :)

I’m hoping for more ukulele!
